Bishop Simpson Baker Jr.

Bishop Simpson Baker Jr accepted the Lord’s call to ministry in 197 7. He began pastoring at St. Anthony’s Temple in High Point, NC, in September of 1977. In 1986, Pastor Baker began “Faith Word Assembly” which he began inside his family home. The ministry started with ten people including his wife, Pastor Delgrachia Baker, and their children. The ministry later moved to their first public location on downtown Kivett Drive.

515 Cross St

Four years later, the church relocated to 515 Cross St and decided to change the name of the ministry. It was then that the name High Point Christian Center was born and has remained the ministries’ name.

234 Dorothy St

In September of 2000, High Point Christian Center moved to 234 Dorothy St of High Point, NC. This location serves as our current location and the ministry has soared to new heights ever since.

Transition

On August 12th, 2017, Pastor Baker was elevated from Pastor to Bishop Simpson Baker Jr. Bishop Baker was ordained by his spiritual leader, Bishop James C. Hash of St. Peter’s World Outreach Center. At the end of 2019, Bishop Baker and his wife received their honorary doctorates in theology.

Legacy

April 12th of 2021, Bishop Baker stepped down as Head Pastor of the High Point Christian Center. Bishop Baker passed the baton to his son and his wife, Pastor Eric and Gloria Baker. Bishop Simpson Baker Jr transitioned to be with the Lord in May 1st 2021. Bishop Baker Jr lived a life that honored God and his word. He was committed to equipping and rebuilding families. He trained men and women to be strong faithful followers of God. Through his life of faithfulness, love, and compassion he taught those around him how to walk by faith and not by sight. Thank you Bishop Baker. We love and miss you.
